TENERIFE

                                      TO SPEND THE WINTER IN TENERIFFE.

To spend the winter at a warmer latitude has become more common for Swedish retired people who wishes to get away from our grey and cold winter. A tourist resort that increases more and more for short and long vacations is Teneriffe.

Of course there is a lot of people here from other countries like Norway, Finland, Denmark and a lot of English tourists just to mention a few. Also a lot of people with different disabilities. People with rheumatic diseases has discovered that the rehabilitation resort Clinika Vintersol in Los Cristianos in Teneriffe is a good place to get some help in lessening the pain.

My friends at home in Sweden thinks I am walking around here on the island having difficulties to get time to pass by and that I am suffering from a severe longing for home.¨

Teneriffe is the largest of the Canary Islands and is situated approximately on N28 W17 half way to the equator calculated from Stockholm, Sweden. The weather in the Canary Islands is strongly affected by the Golf Stream and is most of the time very pleasant seen by Nordic eyes. During the winter the temperature is around 22-24 degrees and during the summer 26-28. The water temperature is usually around 18-22 degrees.
